Position Summary
The Rehabilitation Counselor will function as the Rehab Technology Counselor. The Rehab Technology Counselor works under general supervision to provide training and technical evaluation of computer software and hardware to clients, staff, and the general public. This position will monitor and evaluate the progress of clients regarding technological needs. Provision of evaluation, training, and development of computer systems and technology to meet client’s goals and objectives.

Key Business Processes/Duties
- Provides training and evaluation to clients for computer software and hardware.
- Provides technical support for clients and/or staff regarding computer system installation and work site accessibility.
- Provides case documentation, evaluation, and reports.
- Provides client training activities for technology in the lab and at the work site.
- Provides assessment, research, and evaluation of procedures and actions to aid in the development and planning of client and staff technology needs.
- Processes follow-up reports within 5 days of consultation.
- Processes monthly reports 3 days after the month ends.
- Develops plans for client access, training, and planning for future technology requirements and needs.
- Provides guidance, research, and demonstration of technology needs of the blind and visually impaired.
- Performs public relations activities for the agency.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary
The Rehabilitation Counselor is responsible for implementing and monitoring individualized rehabilitation programs and providing therapeutic counseling and referral services for patients in need of rehabilitative care. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
Functions
Develops an individualized written rehabilitation program with individuals in order to achieve program goals and objectives. Monitors independent living skills or vocational training; evaluates and documents individuals progress in a rehabilitation program. Interviews clients to obtain background information and social history; administers psychological, diagnostic, and behavioral assessments; makes recommendations for admission. Conducts individual or group counseling sessions to increase client self- esteem and to aid client's social, emotional, psychological, and physical well- being. Makes referral to other services and resources to assist with needs of clients. Prepares and analyzes reports including case work progress notes, logs of activities, and documentation of sessions, maintain reports including logs of daily progress of patients, quality assurance records, documentation of sessions, and case work recorded. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of principles and practices of counseling, rehabilitation, and case management. Knowledge of agency, community, and state human service resources. Ability to interview, obtain, evaluate, and diagnose information related to problems and services needed. Ability to provide treatment, guidance, and counseling to clients. Ability to serve as a social advocate for clients by providing information and evaluating and monitoring treatment plans.
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or a related field; plus three years of experience in rehabilitation counseling or related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
