Job Summary
The Dentist is a highly skilled healthcare professional responsible for diagnosing, preventing, and treating oral health issues. Dentists provide a wide range of services, including performing routine dental check-ups, cleaning teeth, filling cavities, repairing fractured teeth, performing root canal procedures, and addressing gum diseases. They also educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, recommend preventive measures, and create treatment plans tailored to individual needs. Dentists may specialize in specific areas, such as orthodontics, periodontics, pediatric dentistry, or oral surgery, depending on their expertise and interests.
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive oral examinations to assess patients’ dental health.
Diagnose and treat various dental conditions, including cavities, gum disease, and oral infections.
Perform dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, crowns, bridges, and root canals.
Design and fit prosthetics like dentures, implants, or braces for patients as needed.
Educate patients on effective oral hygiene techniques, diet choices, and preventive care.
Analyze X-rays and diagnostic tests to identify dental problems and plan treatments.
Prescribe medications such as antibiotics and pain relievers.
Maintain accurate patient records and dental histories.
Uphold strict infection control and safety protocols.
Supervise dental assistants, hygienists, and administrative support personnel.
Stay updated on the latest dental treatments and technologies through continued education and training.
Knowledge and Skills
Proficiency in performing dental procedures with precision and attention to detail.
Ability to analyze diagnostic results, including X-rays and imaging.
Knowledge of dental tools, materials, and sterilization techniques.
Strong communication skills to explain procedures and provide clear guidance to patients.

Minimum Qualifications
A Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
Successful completion of national and state licensing examinations to obtain licensure as a practicing dentist.
Completion of a supervised clinical training program during dental school.
Certification or residency for specialized areas of dentistry, such as orthodontics, oral surgery, or pediatric dentistry.
Demonstrated knowledge of modern dental equipment, techniques, and procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with a variety of assorted personnel.
