The mission of the Department of Corrections is to be a public safety resource for Arkansas families by providing professional management solutions and evidence-based rehabilitative initiatives for offenders.

All DOC positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing. Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card. Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law.

Summary

The Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) Sales Representative is responsible for selling products manufactured by the Industry Division of the Department of Correction to state agencies and institutions, state-supported institutions, non-profit organizations, and local governments. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Conducts sales calls with current and potential customers to explain available products and services that are manufactured at ACI factories. Provides potential customers with product catalogs, current prices of available products and services, and estimates of repairs and special product requests. Completes order forms and forwards to customer service office. Oversees inmates in delivery and installation of merchandise and specialized furniture. Receives customer complaints by reviewing original order and discussing possible resolution with appropriate industry factory manager and customer service. Maintains customer contact for future sales. Assists in arranging and staffing booths at fairs and conventions, displaying available merchandise, and explaining uses and pricing. Prepares and submits weekly activity reports to supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.

Dimensions

Constant in-state travel is required.Frequent overnight travel required.Occasional exposure to inmates is required.Valid Arkansas Driver's License is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of marketing and sales techniques. Knowledge of product and service lines and corresponding prices. Ability to sell products and services. Ability to explain available products and service to current and potential customers. Ability to prepare and present oral and written information and reports. Ability to arrange product displays.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus three years of experience in sales. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
