Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in biology, public health or a related field; plus one year of experience in communicable disease control, epidemiology, environmental science, or a related field. OR The formal education equivalent of a master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biology, or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
Licenses
Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of the Clean Air Act, and Arkansas’s Air Pollution Control program and state implementation plan, including an understanding of state and federal regulations affecting the program, and familiarity with the Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission’s Air Rules (18, 19, 21, 26, and 33) as codified in the Code of Arkansas Rules Ability to use MS Excel to perform descriptive statistics to examine air emissions datasets and to write descriptive results of analyses, including presentation in oral and written formats
- Experience researching, interpreting, and evaluating complex technical information, including information related to air quality monitoring, emissions inventories, modeling results, legal and regulatory language, air permits, and programmatic requirements
- Ability to work with diverse stakeholders in a professional setting, and to schedule and manage meetings MS Teams
- Highly skilled in the use of MS Word and MS Excel to produce complex and lengthy reports, and proficient in the use of MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook/Teams/365
- Experience collecting data and using data visualization tools, such as Google Charts, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, MS Excel, and/or other software options
- Experience in public outreach and presentation
