The mission of the Department of Labor and Licensing is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the general public and the wage earners of Arkansas through the administration, enforcement and provision of services related to licensing, permitting, code enforcement, and employment as authorized by Arkansas law.

Summary
The Contractors Board Investigator is responsible for investigating violations and complaints reported to the Contractors Licensing Board. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Functions
Visits construction sites to inspect or investigate as needed. Investigates reported violations and complaints. Drafts investigative reports and develops written reports on complaints. Prepares investigative documents for hearings on violations and complaints. Reviews new and renewal commercial and residential licensing applications. Revises licensing applications and other forms as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Dimensions
Frequent in-state travel may be required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing contractor licensing. Knowledge of investigative techniques. Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information and reports.
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma, plus four years of construction experience. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
