Job Summary
The Inventory Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the supply chain team by ensuring that inventory is accurately tracked, recorded, and organized. This classification is designed for individuals who are just beginning their careers in inventory management. The role involves a variety of administrative and operational tasks such as data entry, assisting with stock audits, and maintaining inventory records. The Inventory Specialist ensures that the warehouse or storage facilities remain organized and that products flow efficiently through the system, contributing to the overall operational success of the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
Enter and update inventory data using the agency’s tracking system.
Maintain accurate logs of stock received, stored, and dispatched.
Support the team with regular physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
Identify and document any discrepancies in stock levels, notifying the supervisor for follow-up.
Assist with verifying and inspecting incoming shipments for accuracy and quality.
Help prepare items for shipment, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
Prepare and maintain basic reports on inventory levels, stock movement, and any discrepancies noted during counts.
Update inventory reports on a daily or weekly basis to support decision-making processes.
Work collaboratively with warehouse, procurement, and logistics teams to align inventory records with physical stock.
Maintain a clean and organized inventory area to ensure efficiency and safety in the workplace.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong focus on accuracy in data entry and during physical inventory counts.
Ability to maintain orderly workspaces and prioritize tasks effectively.
Effective communication skills to work alongside team members from different departments.
Basic familiarity with inventory management software and the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for data entry and reporting purposes.
Eagerness to learn new systems and procedures in a dynamic environment.
