This position serves as the head housekeeper and performs general housekeeping duties such as cleaning lodge rooms, cabins, public areas, and restrooms.  Job duties include supervising 5 to 10 seasonal employees and 2 full-time employees, maintaining adequate cleaning and linen supplies, performing inspections and light maintenance duties.  Applicant must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license and be able to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of experience in domestic, institutional, hotel/motel housekeeping, or related field, including one year of supervisory experience. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.

Summary

The Lodge Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the overall appearance and sanitation of public use areas in the lodge. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Supervises skilled and unskilled employees by assigning and reviewing work completed. Inspects lodge facilities to determine maintenance needs, sanitary conditions, and overall appearance. Checks housekeeping work performed by staff and inspects for missing items or maintenance needs. Conducts inventory of equipment, linens, supplies, and materials to maintain current demands and determine future needs. Researches and recommends specifications for custodial supplies, linens, and cleaning equipment. Completes and maintains records on inventory, work schedules, lost and found, and maintenance issues. Prepares reports for supervisors as needed. Greets visitors, provides assistance to the public and other staff, and assists customers with special needs. Collaborates with all staff to ensure prompt service delivery for lodge guests. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. Knowledge of lodge amenities, facilities, and materials. Knowledge of basic principles of facility maintenance. Ability to train employees in a multitude of job tasks related facility management. Ability to follow instructions and to give verbal or written reports when necessary. Ability to inspect facilities and determine maintenance needs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of experience in domestic, institutional, hotel/motel housekeeping, or related field, including one year of supervisory experience. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
