Minimum Qualifications
Toxicology Specialty: The formal education equivalent of a doctorate degree in chemistry or veterinary medicine (DVM); plus one year of experience in a chemical laboratory, including one year in a leadership capacity. Virology Specialty: The formal education equivalent of a doctorate degree of veterinary medicine (DVM); plus two years of advanced training in the specialty of veterinary microbial diseases, including one year in a leadership capacity. Pathology Specialty: The formal education equivalent of a doctorate degree of veterinary medicine (DVM); plus two years of advanced training in the specialty of pathology, including one year in a leadership capacity. Poultry Disease Specialty: The formal education equivalent of a master’s degree in avian pathology; plus four years of experience in avian diagnostics, including two years in a supervisory capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
Licenses
Candidates with a doctorate degree in veterinary medicine (DVM) must be licensed as a Veterinarian by the Veterinary Medical Licensing Board in accordance with ACA 17-101-301-303 et al. All specialties must possess a valid Arkansas driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong leadership background with a history of collaborative work with various livestock and poultry services.
- Leadership experience in a laboratory setting performing personnel evaluations, procurement, scheduling, and other related duties is preferred.
- Broad knowledge of veterinary clinical pathology, microbiology, immunology, and toxicology as well as the ability to analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple state and federal agencies in monitoring the Livestock Market Compliance, Animal Disease Traceability, Outreach, and Emergency Response and Preparedness.
- At least one year of documented experience working within a formal quality management system authoring and revising controlled documents and performing root cause/corrective action analysis.
- Understand and keep up to date on local, national, and international policies and trends that affect the organization and shape stakeholders' views.
- Maintain accurate records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct several activities; analyze and evaluate information; multi-task as needed with case management and other projects.
- The ability and willingness to regularly wear personal protective equipment and to comply with fit testing requirements is a fundamental requirement of this position.
- The incumbent is expected to perform any other duties as assigned. This position is on-site, essential, and is not approved for remote work.
- Vaccination against rabies may be required, as well as documented maintenance of titer.
