A day in the life | Arkansas State Surplus Property Agent

The Arkansas Department of Transformation and Shared Services' goal is to create a more efficient government through epic service delivery and collaboration across state government. The department is comprised of the Office of the Secretary, the Arkansas Geographic Information Systems Office, the Division of Building Authority, the Division of Information Systems, the Employee Benefits Division, the Office of Personnel Management, and the Office of State Procurement.

Summary

The TSS Surplus Property Agent is responsible for providing assistance to donators and monitoring and recording surplus inventory in and out of the warehouse. This position is governed by state and federal law and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Receives and unloads incoming property and checks condition of items. Verifies records within the designated database and maintains inventory of all equipment, furniture, and supplies. Assesses property for value. Organizes property in warehouse, screens inventory, and removes out-of-date property that will be going to auction. Conducts scheduled audits and reports findings. Transports property in state to donators requesting delivery. Answers questions regarding surplus through telephone correspondence or in person and assists donators in making selections. Operates various pieces of heavy machinery, including forklifts, cranes, back hoes, track hoes, dump trucks, bulldozers, semi-tractor/trailer, and other military equipment. Performs general maintenance on all heavy equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position may require lifting heavy and cumbersome objects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of computers and record keeping principles. Knowledge of basic math, inventory, and warehouse procedures. Ability to perform data entry. Ability to operate forklift and other heavy machinery.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus four years of experience in warehousing, shipping and receiving or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.

Licenses

Must possess a valid Arkansas drivers license. Must possess a valid Arkansas commercial drivers license (CDL). May be required to obtain Forklift Operations Certification.
