Summary
The Systems Coordination Analyst is responsible for monitoring agency/institution automated computer systems and coordinating the development and implementation of new or revised applications with users and data processing providers. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Functions
Coordinates the development and implementation of systems and programs, gathers data from users, reviews system changes, policies, and procedures to define system needs, and prepares and analyzes test data and on-line programs. Provides training on terminal usage and procedures to users, notifies users of production problems and changes, and generates special reports as required. Maintains and monitors data processing operations by scheduling jobs, keying transactions, validating system output, and recommending changes. Provides technical assistance to users and vendors on hardware and software problems and evaluates and recommends new software and hardware. Assists data processing staff and users by explaining file access and utilization, programming, and problem resolution. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the application of systems analysis and programming in automated information systems. Knowledge of data processing principles and objectives. Ability to discern necessary support actions/input and to write detailed actions and procedures for non-technical personnel. Ability to understand relevant detail from oral information and make formal presentations and explain technical terms and information. Ability to analyze computer system problems or errors and devise corrective measures. Ability to think through a logical sequence of necessary events, in terms of computer language, to produce a desired product.
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or related field; plus four years of experience in data processing or computer operations, including one year in a leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
