Summary

We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic Database Administration Apprentice to join the DIS team.  Responsibilities include planning and directing the coordination, development, and maintenance of multiple computer database systems.  Query and reporting capabilities are required as is experience with Microsoft SQL Server and a solid understanding of relational database systems.  The Database Services team works closely with Server Administration, Application Development, and other teams to provide quality database administration services to our customers.

The candidate should be well-organized, flexible, and willing to assist where needed.  Good time management is a must as are critical thinking and excellent troubleshooting skills.  The candidate must be able to effectively communicate with various agency, department, and customer staff including all levels of leadership.  Relevant technical certifications are a plus.
 

Functions

  • Design database systems and coordinate the testing and review of programs to ensure that project output meets user requirements, time schedules, and data standards. 
  • Consult with users and programmers to identify needs, system capability, and determine requirements for data base design formats and application specifications. 
  • Approve, modify, and implement data structure changes from user requests.  
  • Evaluate system performance, space availability, and methodology.     
  • Provide feedback and technical assistance to development and server administration staff regarding data base systems. 
  • Assist in the development of forecasts/plans for utilization of current and expanded data base systems.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.  Must be able to pass required background checks.  Must be able to work onsite.  Must meet the technical skills outlined.
