Position Summary
The State Systems Administrator will develop software solutions for UI systems serving claimants and employers. The State Systems Administrator will provide on-going technical support and system updates for this solution and others after implementation. Responsibilities also include analyzing structure requirements such as data manipulation, program logic, hardware and software requirements, and feasibility.
Education and Professional Work Experience
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; plus four years of experience in systems administration. OR Completion of technical training in computer science, data processing, or a related field acquired from a vocational, military, or industrial setting, plus four years experience in computer support. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
Preferred Qualification (optional)
- AWS Cloud-based Application Development utilizing C#
- Familiarity with AWS Services (i.e. EC2, S3, RDS)
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Skilled in API, Store Procedure and SSIS development
- Knowledge of serverless computing concepts
- Experience with SQL and PostgreSQL
- Ability to analyze and modify existing computer systems.
- Knowledge of UI Benefits application processes and requirements.
- Knowledge of Federal Tax Information data standards and compliance requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of strategic planning and computer resource allocation.
- Knowledge of indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
- Ability to customize and update computer systems, as required by the needs of statewide agencies.
- Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Job Responsibilities and Expected Results
- Write code that enables applications to function according to user requirements.
- Provide system maintenance for applications developed in-house and third-party vendors.
- Fix bugs in code that are reported by the users.
- Complete assigned work request in a time manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
