SPECIAL AGENT-MEDICAID FRAUD DIVISION

 

The Attorney General of Arkansas Tim Griffin is seeking to hire a certified law enforcement officer to serve as a Special Agent in the in the Medicaid Fraud Division.  Special Agents shall investigate allegations of Medicaid fraud and allegations of abuse and neglect in Long Term Care Facilities under the direct supervision of the Senior Assistant Attorney General, overseen by the Deputy. 

Essential job functions include:

  • working with outside State and Federal agencies
  • maintaining working knowledge of the Medicaid Program
  • compiling data into investigative reports
  • planning and conducting both civil and criminal investigations related to Medicaid provider fraud, abuse, and neglect, by contacting and interviewing defendants and witnesses
  • testifying as needed in court and administrative hearings
  • maintaining all investigative equipment in good working order
  • maintaining all law enforcement certifications including annual firearm qualifications

The successful candidate will:

  • be a certified Arkansas law enforcement officer
  • have a formal equivalent of a bachelor’s degree
  • have a minimum of 5 years of experience in criminal investigations
  • have knowledge of word processing and electronic spreadsheet applications
  • be skilled in effective oral and written communication, researching and interpreting rules and regulations and applying investigative techniques and procedures to assigned cases
  • be skilled in time-management, handling multiple tasks, be able to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • be able to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback and work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment.

Summary

The Special Agent in the MFCU is a certified law enforcement position. Special Agents shall investigate Medicaid Fraud cases and/or alleged endangered adult abuse and neglect cases under the direct guidance and supervision of the Senior Assistant Attorney General, overseen by the Deputy.

Functions

Establishes and maintains liaison with outside agencies, associations, groups, and the like whose assistance and cooperation can enhance the mission of MFCU, including, but not limited to, law enforcement and other investigative, administrative, and/or government agencies.  Maintains relevant and up-to-date working knowledge of the Medicaid program necessary to perform essential job functions.  Conducts highly complex investigations involving large volumes of medical and financial records.  Documents investigation professionally, correctly and in a timely manner consistent with MFCU guidelines. Prepares data including, but not limited to, investigative reports, statements, witness lists, chains of evidence, subpoenas, affidavits, and any other case-related materials or pertinent information deemed necessary for a successful criminal prosecution or civil lawsuit. Follows, advocates, and advances established MFCU policy and procedure.  Maintains working knowledge of and ability to interpret patient medical records, program rules and regulations, and facility policies and procedures.  Assists in planning and conducting both civil and criminal investigations related to Medicaid provider fraud, abuse, and neglect, by contacting and interviewing defendants and witnesses.  Testifies as needed in court and administrative hearings.  Maintains all investigative equipment in good working order.  Assists with maintenance and upkeep of MFCU vehicular fleet.  Maintains all law enforcement certifications including annual firearm qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current Arkansas certified law enforcement.  The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree.  Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license.  Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements. Minimum of five (5) years as an Arkansas certified law enforcement officer with experience in criminal investigation.
