Position Summary                                                                                                       

 

The Senior GIS Analyst will serve as the ACOM End User Support Coordinator.  They will be responsible for providing end user services to the department in addition to mentoring junior level staff.  They will work with management to create policies and implement best practices.  This role will assist with IT Asset Management (ITAM) and will be responsible for IT procurement and IT asset tracking for the department.  They will work closely with the Finance team to ensure consistency and accuracy in both the procurement and asset management of IT equipment.  Additionally, this role will assist various divisions with IT planning.

 

 

Education and Professional Work Experience                                                            

 

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, information technology or related field; plus six years of work-related experience. 

 

Preferred Qualification

Experience with end user support including equipment setup and troubleshooting, network printers, etc.

Experience with IT procurement

Experience with IT asset management

Excellent customer service skills

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of principles and methods for describing the features of land, sea, and air masses, including their physical characteristics, locations, interrelationships, and distribution of plant, animal, and human life.

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Knowledge of global positioning technology, graphics, and photo imaging software.

Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Ability to read and interpret maps, charts, aerial photographs, and statistics.

 

 

Job Responsibilities and Expected Results                                                                  

  1. Work with End User Services and CIO to establish IT procurement guidelines and standards.
  2. Provide end user support throughout the Department including:
    1. Equipment setup
    2. Troubleshooting
    3. Audio/Visual support
  3. Assist with IT Asset Management which includes:
    1. Procurement
    2. Tagging
    3. Inventory Updates and Management
    4. Working closely with Finance to ensure appropriate record-keeping of assets, asset transfers, depreciation, and disposal of IT assets as needed.
  4. Assist with development, management, and reporting of IT Plans for various divisions within the Department as requested.

Summary

The Senior Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing and interpreting geographic information utilizing geodetic surveys, aerial photographs, and satellite data. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Identifies, scales, and orients geodetic points, elevations, and other topographic features, applying standard mathematical formulas. Collects information about specific features of the Earth using aerial photography and other digital remote sensing techniques. Compiles data and utilizes databases required for map preparation, including aerial photographs, survey notes, records, reports, and original maps. Determines map content and layout, as well as production specifications, such as scale, size, projection, and colors, and direct production, to ensure that specifications are followed, and inspects final compositions to ensure completeness and accuracy. Examines and analyzes data from ground surveys, reports, aerial photographs, and satellite images to prepare topographic maps, aerial-photograph mosaics, and related charts. Delineates aerial photographic detail such as control points, hydrographs, topography, and cultural features using precision stereo plotting apparatus or drafting instruments. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
