Job Summary
The Rehabilitation Instructor empowers and inspires individuals with disabilities or physical limitations to regain independence and improve their quality of life. They design and implement personalized rehabilitation programs, focusing on skill-building, adaptive techniques, and emotional support. The Rehabilitation Instructor often works with clients in healthcare, educational, or community settings, enabling them to achieve their personal, professional, and social goals.
Primary Responsibilities
Assess clients' abilities, needs, and goals to develop tailored rehabilitation plans.
Teach adaptive techniques, such as mobility, communication, daily living skills, and employment-related tasks.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, educators, and families in an attempt to ensure a holistic approach to rehabilitation.
Monitor and evaluate clients' progress, providing feedback and modifying programs as needed.
Offer emotional support and counseling to clients and families, fostering confidence and resilience.
Document progress and maintain detailed records for program evaluation and reporting purposes.
Stay informed of advancements in rehabilitation methods, tools, and technologies.
Advocate for accessibility, inclusion, and disability rights within the community.
Knowledge and Skills
Proficiency in adaptive technologies, mobility aids, and instructional strategies.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity are essential for building trust and rapport with clients.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Rehabilitation Science, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Special Education, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in rehabilitation or a related field (internship, volunteer work, or professional positions).
