Duties:
The Coordinator of Curriculum and Assessment provides guidance to local education agencies on supporting students with Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in accessing the general education curriculum and statewide assessment. This section offers resources on developing standards-based IEPs and information on assessment options and accommodations. This section oversees the implementation of the ESSA requirement that no more than 1% of the state’s students participate in the alternate assessment. This section collaborates with the DESE Literacy Unit and Assessment Unit to support instruction and assessment for students with disabilities. This section works collaboratively with the state’s Dyslexia specialist to ensure that the state’s dyslexia requirements are met for students with disabilities and works collaboratively with other agency staff in the development and delivery of professional development pertaining to inclusive practices. The essential duties and responsibilities for this position are supervises professional and support staff; interviews and selects applicants; plans and participates in training of new employees; assigns duties and responsibilities to employees; assists in driving the state's inclusive education work, collaborates with DESE to support the access of curriculum and assessment for students with disabilities; coordinates the activities of various planning committees associated with special projects; assists with the development and editing of federal and other grant proposals; interviews, recommends employment of, supervises and evaluates the work performance of section personnel.

Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in secondary education, educational administration, or related field; plus five years of experience in education, public school administration, or a related field, including two years in a supervisory capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
