The Public-School Program Advisor will serve as an expert on the Arkansas K-12 Science Standards.
Design, implement, and evaluate statewide professional development for K-12 science teachers.
Provide coaching on best instructional practices in the classroom for K-12 science teachers and administrators. Conduct walkthroughs of science classrooms and provide feedback and data analysis for districts and teachers.
Build and facilitate a cohort of science teacher leaders throughout Arkansas.
Stay up to date on content knowledge, current research, and effective practices in science curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Provide supplemental educational services and technical assistance to school districts around science.
Work with other education specialists, ADE units, organizations, agencies, education service cooperatives, and institutions of higher education to support the vision, mission, goals, and priorities of the ADE.
Analyze performance data to guide instructional practices, ensuring continuous improvement in teaching methods and student learning.
Develop and maintain appropriate working knowledge of federal, state, and agency laws. As well as regulations applicable to the specialist's job function.
Collect, maintain, summarize, and provide records and research data as required by the ADE.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in public administration, educational administration, education, or related field; plus five years of experience in education, public school administration, or related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
