Duties:
The Public School Program Advisor for Gifted and Talented (GT) Programs will work under the supervision of the Program Coordinator for the Office of GT. The advisor is responsible for 1) providing technical assistance, resources, and support to assist schools in educating students who are identified in need of GT services; 2) supporting schools in the effective implementation of advanced and accelerated learning programs and pathways, including Advanced Placement programs; 3) supporting grant administration for grants managed by the Office of GT; 4) engaging with stakeholders and agency partners; and 5) informing agency policy and procedures with implications for gifted and advanced learners. Program advisors interact with various Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) employees in a variety of projects promoting the vision and mission of DESE.

Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in public administration, educational administration, education, or related field; plus five years of experience in education, public school administration, or related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
