Overview: The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism protects and promotes our state’s natural, cultural and historic assets, contributing to a thriving economy and high quality of life. The Content Manager reports to the Chief of Communications and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the consistent voice, tone, and quality of content that resonates with diverse audiences, including residents, visitors, and stakeholders.
Job Duties: This position will have oversight of our creative development—photography, print shop, graphic design and video content. Key responsibilities include content planning, creation, editing, and distribution across websites, social media, email marketing, and print materials, all while driving engagement, awareness, and a positive impact on Arkansas’ tourism and cultural economy.
The ideal candidate will possess strong editorial skills, a deep understanding of storytelling, and the ability to leverage digital tools to enhance the department's outreach and visibility. In addition to the creative needs, this position will serve as a manager and require experience related to managing a creative team. That management must consist of strategic planning, content road mapping, prioritization, scheduling, workflow proficiency, clear communication, problem solving and meeting deadlines. Minimum Qualifications: Formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, public administration or related field; plus, five years’ experience in public relations, including two years in a supervisory capacity.
Preferred Qualifications: Formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, or a related field and 5+ years’ experience in content management, digital marketing, or a similar role.
