Position Summary
The Program Eligibility Specialist I position is responsible for conducting one-on-one interviews and may facilitate group training sessions for Unemployment Insurance (UI) claimants identified as likely to exhaust benefits before securing employment. This role requires a high level of accountability in delivering intensive case management services to program participants, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and agency policies. Succes in this position depends on strong communication skills to effectively engage with claimants and stakeholders, and a focus on efficiency in coordinating services and managing caseloads to support timely reemployment outcomes, and in protecting the UI trust fund.
Success in this position depends on strong communication skills to effectively engage with staff, claimants, employers, UI Administration, and other UI units - including UI Claims Processing , UI Intake and Support, and UI Correspondence, Adjudication, Appeals Tribunal, Board of Review, and ADWS Legal staff - with a focus on efficiency in protecting the integrity of the trust fund.
This position requires on-site employment with no remote or hybrid options available.
Preferred Qualification
Experience working with the Unemployment Insurance program and intensive knowledge of UI system, program processes, and terminology. Additionally, experience conducting business via telephone and/or email is a must.

Job Responsibilities and Expected Results
- Process and adjust benefit overpayments balances as needed to ensure proper collections of balances due. This includes but is not limited to appeal reversals and manual adjustments as needed.
- Process offset files from UI benefits, state offsets, and federal tax offsets.
- Research claims for accuracy in overpayment balances due, this includes but is not limited to manual intervention to correct historical issues.
- Review the claim service file to determine if any potential issues or items need to be addressed. All claims must be reviewed carefully before adjustments are made.
- Scan and image any documents received and mail out any documents required or requested by the claimant or employer.
- Responds to inquiries and processes requests from other ADWS UI units including UI Claims Processing, UI Intake and Support, UI Correspondence, Automated Adjudication Systems (AAS), Benefit Accuracy Measurement (BAM), Contributions, and other units regarding individual claims or issues found.
- May be required to contact claimants as a result of a request from the Governor's office, Legislature, or Reemployment Director and provide a response via email to UI Administration.
- Performs other duties as defined and assigned by UI Administration.
