Salary Range: $22,000.00 - $31,900.00

Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Functions

Records refills, labels, and discontinued prescriptions, and updates patient profiles and prescription information under the immediate and direct supervision of the pharmacist. Assists in receiving new supplies and verifies orders received. Prepares unit dose cards with patient medications, according to procedures and for later validation by the pharmacist. Receives payment for prescription drugs and posts to client's account. Checks medication areas to locate outdated and discontinued drugs and reports findings to pharmacist for action. Completes various reports and submits for verification and approval. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of basic mathematics. Knowledge of record keeping procedures. Knowledge of inventory procedures. Ability to maintain records and reports and update files. Ability to receive and verify supply orders. Ability to complete reports.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma.

Licenses

Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician by the State Board of Pharmacy in accordance with ACA 17-92-301 and Board Regulation Three.
