The Park Planner works under the administrative direction of the Manager and assists the planning team as needed with the evaluation, preparation and implementation of capital improvement and resource design documents, plans, and reports. This position will assist with planning for Division of Arkansas Heritage, and the Division of State Parks. This position serves as a member of an interdisciplinary planning team and is responsible for assisting the park staff, architects and engineers with the planning and development of new park facilities and the repair/renovation/restoration of existing structures and infrastructure. Other job duties include preparing/reviewing plans and specifications, formulating site development design concepts, master plans and site development plans, researching and assimilating information for special projects, records, and reports, preparing and monitoring project budgets and expenditures, as well as preparing funding requests. Some in-state, overnight travel is required. Applicant must be able to traverse rough terrain.

Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in historic preservation, landscape architecture, resource management or a related field; plus two years of experience in park planning, historical preservation, construction administration, or a related field. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.
Preferred Qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in architecture; architectural studies, landscape architecture, construction administration and landscape architectural studies. Work experience during enrollment in preferred degree programs will be considered.
