Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in microbiology or a related field; plus two years of experience in laboratory analysis or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience handling animal bodily fluids, tissues, and microbiological cultures is preferred.
- Experience performing both conventional and real-time PCR is desired.
- At least one year of documented experience working within a formal quality management system authoring and revising controlled documents and performing root cause/corrective action analysis.
- The ability and willingness to regularly wear personal protective equipment and to comply with fit testing requirements is a fundamental requirement of this position.
- Vaccination against rabies will be required, as well as documented maintenance of titer.
- Laboratory positions involve precise, repetitive work in high-throughput environments, e.g., pipetting, cutting of animal tissues, weighing specimens, etc.
- This position is on-site, essential and is not approved for remote work.
