Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in microbiology or a related field; plus two years of experience in laboratory analysis or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.

- THIS IS A LABORATORY TECHNICIAN POSITION IN VIROLOGY/MOLECULAR DIAGNOSTICS.
- Experience handling potentially infectious and/or hazardous materials including, but not limited to, animal bodily fluids, tissues, microbiological cultures, and agricultural samples containing pesticides.
- Experience maintaining cell cultures and performing PCRs.
- At least one year of documented experience working within a formal quality management system authoring and revising controlled documents and performing root cause/corrective action analysis.
- The ability and willingness to regularly wear personal protective equipment and to comply with fit testing requirements is a fundamental requirement of this position.
- Vaccination against rabies may be required, as well as documented maintenance of titer.
