This position is located at the Arkansas State Hospital in Little Rock in the Nursing Education Department.

Minimum Qualifications: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Supervisor will need to have experience in nursing and behavior management training.  Minimum of 3 years of practical nursing experience. Supervisory experience preferred. 

Required Certification: Completion of an accredited LPN program. Current LPN licensure in Arkansas. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, EXCEPT for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.

Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides essential direct patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) and physicians. LPNs are responsible for assessing patient needs, assisting in care planning, and implementing various aspects of patient treatment.

Primary Responsibilities

The assignment of supervisory duties is determined by the hiring agency's operational needs. Non-supervisory roles will serve as senior technical experts. Supervise and mentor a team of Licensed Practical Nurses and other staff members. Ensure proper administration of medications and treatments as per physician orders. Assist in patient assessments and documentation. Monitor and evaluate care outcomes, adjusting plans as needed. Provide support and guidance to LPNs in complex cases or when clinical judgment is needed. Coordinate with physicians and RNs to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Knowledge and Skills

Strong understanding of LPN duties, patient care protocols, and healthcare regulations. Leadership and supervision skills to guide and mentor nursing teams. Ability to assess patient conditions, administer treatments, and adjust care as needed. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Proficient in utilizing electronic health records (EHR) and other clinical documentation systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of an accredited LPN program. Current LPN licensure in Arkansas. Minimum of three years of practical nursing experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
