Position Summary

 

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker is responsible for reviewing mental health and academic records from vocational rehabilitation clients around the state and writing consultations reports that summarize the client’s relevant history, diagnoses of record, and the likely impact of their psychiatric diagnoses on their vocational functioning. Additionally, the L.C.S.W. will determine whether a client needs referral for psychological screening or comprehensive psychological testing to clarify diagnosis or update academic, standardized testing, or work accommodations. As part of the consultation process, the L.C.S.W. may perform diagnostic and collateral interviews with clients and a knowledgeable informant, when appropriate, either face-to-face or via telehealth. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The L.C.S.W. will directly report to the Administrative Director of Psychological Services.

Education and Professional Work Experience

 

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a master's degree from an accredited social work program in an accredited institution approved by the Council on Social Work Education; plus, three years of supervised social work experience by a licensed certified social worker in a clinical or nonclinical concentration.  

Licenses

Must be licensed as a Licensed Certified Social Worker by the Social Work Licensing Board in accordance with ACA 17-103-306.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience working with individuals with mental health disorders.
  • Ability to integrate medical, academic, and psychological records effectively in consultation reports.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic interviews.
  • Ability to develop rapport with clients, particularly those with challenging behaviors.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with professionals from other disciplines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Authorization by licensure board to use telehealth to provide clinical services.

Job Responsibilities and Expected Results  

 

  1. Gather and review behavioral health, academic, and medical records related to the client’s disabling conditions.
  2. Triage clients to consultation only, psychological screening, or comprehensive psychological evaluation.
  3. Write consultation reports that outline the client’s relevant history, diagnoses, accommodation needs, and the potential impact of their psychiatric illness on vocational functioning.
  4. Perform clinical and collateral interviews as needed to clarify mental health diagnoses and make accommodation recommendations.
  5. Follow all HIPAA and agency guidelines.
  6. Provide consultation services to vocational rehabilitation counselors regarding difficult cases.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Productivity and Quality of Performance Requirements

  1. Review and triage approximately 75 cases per month and write 20 consults per month.
  2. Review records, triage, and/or write consultation report within 5 business days of receipt of counselor request.
  3. Follow standards of practice as established by the professional’s licensure board, professional organization, and the ARS Psychological Services department.

Summary

The Licensed Certified Social Worker is responsible for supervising social work and counseling activities, providing technical assistance and developing program plans. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Performs a lead role in coordinating predetermined work assignments of co-workers and/or subordinate employees, by communicating prioritization of activities and project deadlines. Provides technical assistance to staff and clients, by offering consultation concerning specific requests, explaining laws and regulations, and monitoring certification standards. Develops program plans by determining goals and objectives, assessing programs, and making recommendations for policy and procedure changes in conjunction with other staff. Conducts individual group counseling sessions to increase client self-esteem and to aid client's social, emotional, psychological, and physical wellbeing. Refers clients to other sources of help, monitors client's progress, writes release summaries, and notifies appropriate personnel. Testifies in court concerning client's compliance with court order and psychiatric stability. Prepares and maintains reports, including logs of daily progress of patients, quality assurance records, documentation of sessions, and case work records. Performs other duties as assigned.
