Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in library and information science, history, public administration, political science, English, or related field
- Currently enrolled in or have completed a Master of Library and Information Science degree program.
- Experience working in an academic library, special library, or archives.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide reference and research assistance to the public, state legislators, legislative staff, and other state employees through in-person, telephone, and virtual reference assistance.
- Stays abreast of additions to the Arkansas State Library State Documents collection, US Patent and Trademarks Resources, Federal Documents Collection, State Library services, and Digital Collections
- Is adept at controlled language searching of research databases and can identify appropriate research depositories to fulfill information requests from state government employees and citizens.
- Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and practice continuous improvement in areas of content knowledge and expertise within liaison area.
- Create and maintain research guides for State Library collections, as assigned.
- Highlight new acquisitions, promote research services, and provide instruction and outreach to State Library users, as assigned.
- Provide in-person services to library visitors including tours, circulation desk work, and directional assistance.
- Remain engaged and up to date with current issues in federal and state government organizational structures.
- Administer the Arkansas State Library Interlibrary Lending Service via OCLC Worldshare.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
Prior experience in a library setting, such as internships, volunteer work, or part-time employment, is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of library principles, practices, and cataloging systems.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using office software, such as Microsoft Office Suite, and library management systems.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn.
Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series.
