Job Summary

The IT Security Analyst II is responsible for protecting an agency’s or organization’s computer systems, networks, and data from cyber threats and vulnerabilities. This role involves monitoring security systems, analyzing potential risks, responding to incidents, and implementing measures to safeguard sensitive information. The IT Security Analyst II works proactively to identify weaknesses, maintains compliance with security standards, and ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of organizational data.

Primary Responsibilities

Monitor network traffic, systems, and applications for suspicious activity and potential threats. Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security risks. Investigate, document, and respond to security incidents, breaches, and anomalies. Develop and implement security policies, standards, and procedures to protect information technology infrastructure. Collaborate with information technology teams to ensure secure configurations of systems and applications. Maintain and update security tools such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems. Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards. Provide security awareness training to employees to promote best practices. Research and evaluate emerging security technologies and threats to recommend innovative solutions. Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and risk mitigation strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience in information technology security, network administration, or a related field. Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) may be required. Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies, including firewalls, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions, and endpoint protection. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and frameworks such as General Data Protection Regulation or Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and cloud security principles.

Licensure/Certifications

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the skills mentioned in the 'Knowledge, Abilities and Skills' section, the following skills and qualifications are also preferred.

  • Experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Windows servers and Windows workstations.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Power Shell scripting and Microsoft 365 suite administration.
  • Experience with Linux server administration.
  • Experience with configuring and maintaining network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Knowledge of network security principles, including VPNs, intrusion detection systems
  • Hands-on experience with relational database management systems. This includes installation, backup and recovery performance tuning etc. and a knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of Java programming language
  • Experience in website maintenance
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

SALARY: Starting salary is $73,104. A higher starting salary would apply only if a promotional opportunity for a current state employee. Only completed applications will be accepted. Veteran Preference: A copy of a DD-214 must be submitted to the Hiring Official at the time of interview to be considered for Veteran Preference.

 

 Method of pay is direct deposit. Checking or savings account is required if hired.

7% Mandatory contribution to AR Teacher Retirement System is required if hired.

 

Employees hired or rehired in 2014 or later will be automatically enrolled into the Arkansas Diamond Deferred Compensation 457 Plan with a 3% automatic deduction. If you do not wish to participate, you have 90 days from your first deduction to opt out.
