PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*Working knowledge in Life Safety Code or certification by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for healthcare facility professionals
*Experience in construction surveying and/or fire protection surveying and/or ADA compliance with life safety planning
*Experience in reading and understanding life safety drawings and/or blueprints
*Experience in measuring building space, land, and mapping.
Job Summary:
The Health Facilities Surveyor is responsible for conducting pre-licensing and Life Safety Code inspections for licensed facilities providing services reimbursed by Medicaid, including but not limited to Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Treatment Programs, Adult Development Day Treatment Programs, Behavioral Health Agencies, Community Support Systems Providers, Early Intervention Day Treatment Programs, Residential Community Reintegration Programs, Adult Day Care and Adult Day Health Care, Assisted Living Facilities Level I&II, and Residential Care Facilities.
Conducts on-site inspections for licensing standards during construction phases, post construction-pre licensing phases, and during emergency need once licensed. Inspections consist of on-site physical plant inspections of facilities and operations, including life safety code, egress and ingress, fire safety, emergency plans, and all standards as determined by the provider type licensing manual. Activities may include reviewing construction plans, measuring and recording square footage or residential and non-residential programs to determine capacity, mapping or drawing space for documentation, reviewing program policies and procedures and personnel files, and writing documentation and evaluations and recommendation for licensure or certification to management. This position contains frequent in-state travel and may require overnight stays away from home.

Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in nursing, dietetics, medical records administration, environmental health, health service administration, or a related field; plus two years of experience in healthcare services
OR
Licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
