Job Summary
The Engineer Supervisor / Expert plays a pivotal role with the connection of technical mastery and leadership. This classification is responsible for steering high-impact projects and developing innovative solutions that advance the agency’s or organization’s technology strategy. The Engineer Supervisor / Expert leads complex design and analysis efforts, oversees system architecture, and serves as the subject matter expert in their field. This role collaborates with multiple teams in an attempt to solve cutting-edge problems, mentor junior engineers, and drive improvements in processes, quality, and overall product excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
The assignment of supervisory duties is determined by the hiring agency's operational needs. Non-supervisory roles will serve as senior technical experts.
Design, develop, and execute robust engineering solutions while ensuring the highest standards of technical excellence.
Lead teams in building scalable, maintainable, and highly performant systems.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering an environment of growth and innovation.
Spearhead the planning, execution, and monitoring of complex projects from conception through deployment.
Collaborate with product management, quality assurance, and operations to ensure alignment across teams.
Oversee project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables to meet strategic business objectives.
Evaluate emerging technologies and drive initiatives that incorporate modern tools and methodologies.
Analyze complex systems, perform root-cause analysis, and propose innovative solutions to technical challenges.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices and quality assurance standards.
Work directly with other engineering units, executive leadership, and a variety of assorted personnel to align technical strategies with business goals.
Document designs, maintain required technical specifications, and ensure comprehensive knowledge sharing across teams.
Prepare and present technical proposals, status reports, and project insights to internal and external personnel.
Maintain transparent communication channels fostering collaboration and accountability.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license as issued by the appropriate state licensing board. Attainment of this license ordinarily involves passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam followed by the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam.
Minimum of 8 years of progressive engineering experience, including complex design projects and a track record of adherence to regulatory and quality standards.
Extensive experience with modern engineering practices and tools.
A strong portfolio of successfully delivered projects that demonstrate technical innovation and robust design principles.
