Salary Range: $51,761.00 - $75,054.00

Summary

We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic Information Security Apprentice to join the DIS team.  Responsibilities include determining solutions for network access problems and implementing statewide network security policies and procedures.  Training users and promoting security awareness to ensure system security and to improve server and network efficiency. Monitor use of data files and regulate access to safeguard information in computer files. Analyze network traffic and security system logs statewide to identify security threats and incidents. Encrypt data transmissions and erect firewalls to conceal confidential information as it is being transmitted and to keep out tainted digital transfers. Document computer security and emergency measures policies, procedures, and tests. 

The candidate should be well-organized, flexible, and willing to assist where needed.  Good time management is a must as are critical thinking and excellent troubleshooting skills.  The candidate must be able to effectively communicate with various agency, department, and customer staff including all levels of leadership.  Relevant technical certifications are a plus.
 

Functions

  • Apply and troubleshoot firewall rules on Cisco ASA and Firepower as well as Fortinet firewalls
  • Configuration and troubleshooting WAF and load balancing features of BigIP F5 LTM and ASM modules
  • Configurations of site-to-site and Remote Access VPN 
  • Advanced troubleshooting to identify and resolve network connectivity and security issues
  • Implement security hardware architectures and required configurations
  • Audit and cleanup of existing firewall rulesets
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance requirements are met on all supported devices accordance with best practices as well as state and federal regulations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Five years of experience: 

  • Apply and troubleshoot firewall rules on Cisco ASA and Firepower
  • Apply and troubleshoot firewall rules on Fortinet firewalls

  • Configurations of site-to-site and Remote Access VPN
  • Advanced troubleshooting to identify and resolve network connectivity and security issues
  • Implement security hardware architectures and required configurations

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.  Must be able to pass required background checks.  Must be able to work onsite. Must meet the technical skills outlined.
