Job Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinates movement of juveniles.
Reviews and forwards incoming and outgoing requests for home evaluations for correctness and completeness; develops written correspondence regarding each case as necessary and completes ICJ documentation as required; follows and ensures ICJ procedures and rules are followed when returning runaways, escapees, and absconders to Arkansas or to other states; coordinates with other Interstate Compact states to arrange transportation to place a juvenile out of state or bring one back to Arkansas when the placement fails; monitors ICJ placements and assures that quarterly progress reports are completed by staff in Arkansas and other states in a timely manner.
Provides technical assistance.
Responds to requests for information and assistance regarding ICJ procedures/rules from state agencies, juvenile court judges and their staff, community-based providers and others; assists the ICJ Program Manager when moving runaway juveniles to and from Arkansas: interprets state and federal laws, regulations, policy and procedures related to the ICJ; remains current on ICJ laws, regulations, policies and procedures; and assists in providing statewide training on ICJ.
Performs administrative functions as required to ensure effective functioning of the ICJ Unit and provides administrative support to the ICJ State Council.
Coordinates data collection and prepares reports.
Assists in the collection and reporting of data related to ICJ statistics for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required.
Maintains JCJ records/files.
Preferred Skills
- Prior work experience or knowledge of the juvenile justice system and programs for adjudicated juveniles is a plus.
- Strong writing skills are essential.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills is necessary.
- Some in-state travel and possible out-of-state travel; as well as occasional assignments after normal working hours may be required.
