DDS PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Position Information

Summary

The Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS) Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating individualized programs and acting as advocate for developmentally disabled individuals served. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Functions

Supervises a professional staff by interviewing and recommending for hire, assigning and reviewing work, training employees, resolving work problems, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Assists in the development of program plans to meet resident’s needs by exchanging information with staff and reviewing collected data, and reviews summary reports on each resident’s program to determine what should be discussed during staffing. Conducts staff meetings by discussing documentation with team members to determine resident progress and to develop a new or modified program, takes minutes, and completes a comprehensive report on the outcome. Writes, monitors, and evaluates the effectiveness of resident programs ensuring compliance by compiling comprehensive reports, and coordinates admissions according to procedure an assigns client to various programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information. Ability to develop, plan, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services for the developmentally disabled. The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in psychology, special education, social work or a related field; plus three years of experience in planning individualized programs for the developmentally disabled, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity within the program.
