This position will be responsible to ensure backups are completed successfully for our agencies and restores are performed as in when needed. They will provide the Infrastructure support from the SAN/NAS perspective in order to keep the productivity and business moving without downtime or failure. They will need to understand storage protocols, thin/thick provisioning concepts and the engineering, migration, troubleshooting, and support of Web Applications, Client/Server applications, and deployment scripting to assist in deploying applications to software defined networks and data centers.


In this role, you can look forward to:


  • Responsible for end-to-end delivery of storage and backup solutions to all DPS agencies.
  • Work with other Infrastructure team members to deliver an infrastructure solution that is technically sound, resilient to failure, operationally supportable, and meets the requirements of the agency.
  • Managing the daily, weekly, and monthly backup of data on servers across various platforms like Windows, Linux, UNIX, AIX, SUN, HP UX and ESX residing at various data centers across the State using various backup tools/solutions.
  • Being responsible for troubleshooting backup job failures, physical & virtual tape library, data domain errors and restore the backup as an when requested.
  • Ensuring the maintenance and accuracy of Hosting and Storage documentation
  • Developing new and improving existing processes and procedures as it relates to maintenance, automation, system testing, and functional validation.
  • Participating in maintenance and enhancement projects to SAN, virtualization, and backup systems
  • Provisioning and manage iSCSI storage solutions and or fiber channel storage utilizing flash storage, block storage, Cloud storage, NAS storage and object storage.
  • Planning and managing enterprise backup storage solutions and system administration.
  • Delivering storage and backup services using Veeam backup application.
  • Perform rack mounting and configuration of storage systems in a development and staging facility.
  • Troubleshooting and identifying hardware malfunctions; administer firmware upgrades and version upgrades.
  • Provision storage for VMware or file system usage.

Salary Range: $57,755.00 - $83,745.00


The Data Warehouse Specialist is responsible for providing general support in the data integration related activities throughout the organization. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.


Performs the data modeling design process, according to custom specifications and reporting requirements. Implements and supports new system applications, enhancements, and future upgrades for existing applications. Provides systems analysis, proposes appropriate solutions, and utilizes the technology to accomplish each assignment. Designs, develops, tests, and maintains programs using software development tools in various programming environments. Develops and maintains complete, accurate, and timely documentation for assigned applications. Supports users in the implementation and day-to-day use of administrative systems database applications, including user training and workflow recommendations, and provides technical support to other programming team members. Performs other duties as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of advanced data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to demonstrate organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems and to translate the solutions into applications/systems or modifications. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to pay attention to detail, manage multiple priorities, and work both independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in information technology or a related area; plus five years of experience in designing and implementing data warehouse and relational database applications. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
