Summary

The Credentialing Coordination Supervisor is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the credentialing department. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Functions

Directs the activities of a professional support staff by interviewing applicants, hiring, terminating incumbents, assigning and reviewing work, training, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Manages day to day operations of the credentialing department, including workflow management, employee development, counseling, and disciplinary actions. Directs the medical staff services program, which includes credentialing and privileging medical staff business affairs. Works with all of the hospital-based medical services, committees, individuals, and outside regulatory agencies to ensure appropriate credentialing. Develops, implements, monitors, and revises policies and procedures for the medical staff office and coordinates link between medical staff affairs, quality improvement, risk management, and continuing medical staff education, based on outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of medical profession credentialing and privileging processes, requirements, and procedures. Knowledge of general office techniques. Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques. Knowledge of word processing and database management. Ability to access policy/procedures and recommend changes and improvements. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, and oversee the work of subordinates.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of an associates degree in health science, business management, office management or a related field; plus three years of experience in a hospital or clinical operations, licensing or credentialing activities, or a related field, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
