The Attorney Specialist in the Privacy Unit of OCC serves as regulatory and privacy counsel for all DHS divisions and offices. This position's responsibilities
include, but are not limited to the following:
• Provide expert and strategic legal advice to agency leadership on a wide variety of statutory regulatory and compliance issues that will ensure the agency
operates in compliance with agency policy, rules, and state and federal law.
• Process requests for documents including but not limited to subpoena, court order, requests from law enforcement, and Disability Rights Arkansas. The requests
for documents volume is currently averaging 130 plus requests per month but trending upwards. This process includes reaching out to the requester for
clarification and requesting the documents from the appropriate Office/Division, Unit, or Program. Documents requested may be held by multiple custodians across
DHS.
• Ensure that all documents released have been properly redacted based on the individual requesting, the appropriate statute or regulation, and type of documents.
