Job Summary

The Applications Analyst I is responsible for analyzing, implementing, and maintaining software applications that support an agency’s or organization’s business processes and operations. By bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, the Applications Analyst I collaborates with developers and information technology teams in an attempt to ensure applications are functional, efficient, and aligned with organizational goals. This role demands strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of business processes, and the technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve application-related issues.

Primary Responsibilities

Evaluate business requirements and translate them into functional specifications for applications. Analyze existing applications to identify areas for improvement, optimization, or replacement. Coordinate with agencies to gather requirements, address concerns, and provide updates. Test and validate applications to ensure proper functionality and alignment with business needs. Develop and document processes, user guides, and training materials for end-users. Troubleshoot and resolve application-related issues to maintain system reliability. Support the integration of new applications or updates into existing systems. Monitor application performance and implement solutions to enhance efficiency. Collaborate with information technology teams and vendors to deploy and maintain software solutions. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience working with enterprise systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (e.g., SAP, Oracle) or Customer Relationship Management platforms (e.g., Salesforce) may be required. Proficiency in tools like Structured Query Language, Excel, and reporting software may be required. Familiarity with system development life cycle methodologies, including agile and waterfall.

Licensure/Certifications

Preferred Qualifications:
 
In addition to the skills mentioned in the 'Knowledge, Abilities and Skills' section, the following skills and qualifications are also preferred.
  1. Minimum of 1 year of experience in application analysis, implementation, or support.
  2. Knowledge of data processing system design, programming methods, concepts and standards.
  3. Knowledge of Java programming language. Ability to understand and develop complex Java programs.
  4. Knowledge of Relations Database programming and maintenance such as backup, restore, performance tuning, etc.
  5. Proficiency with version control systems for code management, collaboration and maintaining a history of changes
  6. Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux server operating system
  7. Basic knowledge of Windows desktop operating system
  8. Knowledge of website development
  9. Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues efficiently
  10. Basic knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
  11. Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

SALARY: Starting salary is $73,104. A higher starting salary would apply only if a promotional opportunity for a current state employee. Only completed applications will be accepted. Veteran Preference: A copy of a DD-214 must be submitted to the Hiring Official at the time of interview to be considered for Veteran Preference.

 

 Method of pay is direct deposit. Checking or savings account is required if hired.

7% Mandatory contribution to AR Teacher Retirement System is required if hired.

 

Employees hired or rehired in 2014 or later will be automatically enrolled into the Arkansas Diamond Deferred Compensation 457 Plan with a 3% automatic deduction. If you do not wish to participate, you have 90 days from your first deduction to opt out.
