Job Duties: The Corporate Retail Sales Manager is responsible for developing and managing an overall buying and sales strategy and plan for a portfolio of revenue producing facilities and will work closely with all state park operational units to procure and display resale merchandise. Job duties include:

· Developing and maintaining a standard list of merchandise for resale

· Develop and maintain retail pricing to maximize revenue and minimize cost of sales

· Develop and implement the logo brand standard policy

· Create and release visual merchandising standards and practices

· Establish a system or system for approving artwork ensuring it meets brand standards

· Collaborate with ADPHT Communications section on the development of a consistent identifier (logo) unique to each park

· Develop, create, implement, and monitor an Arkansas State Parks online store

· Support the development of a loyalty program for revenue channels within the State Parks division

· Collaborate with each park’s resale buyer to coordinate product selections and offerings

· Collaborate with each park on budget, inventory and distribution of resale merchandise

· Maintain and monitor the POS system at each location

· Conduct training for park staff regarding inventory and merchandise management

· Assist in the inventory management of Club 52 merchandise

· Meeting with distributors, suppliers, and vendors to review product offerings

· Address guest or vendor inquiries, questions or needs. Respond to complaints regarding merchandise

· Conduct visits and inspections of the gift shops, resolving issues as they arise

· Attend appropriate and applicable trade shows for new merchandise offerings.

· Make presentations to the public, civic groups, and other stakeholders as necessary.

· Develop and maintain connections to related industry business partners and stakeholders.

· Keep records, write summaries, analyze data, and complete operational reports for marketing/sales figures on history, forecasts and budget. Provide to management as required.

· Prepare inventory reports and forecast sales for inventory management.

· Create, process and file reports and correspondence as needed.

· Always volunteer and willingly accept work outside these parameters to propel the agenda of the team and to the benefit of the agency.

· Demonstrate the desire to effectively communicate with all partners and stakeholders both internal and external.

Advanced communication and computer skills required. Must be able to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays. Frequent travel is required.

 

Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications:  The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, accounting, or business management or a related field; plus four years of experience in retail and/or financial management in a for-profit organization.   Experience may be a substitute for education. Experience working with a central reservation system preferred. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.

 

Must have a valid driver’s license; a driving record check will be performed. A criminal background check is also required.

Summary

The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism (ADPT) Specialty Operations Manager is responsible for managing the marketing and programs within the agency to ensure efficiency. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Analyzes reports on sales, profits, costs, and merchandise inventories to evaluate the business and accounting practices of the facilities, and detect problems and recommend corrective action. Develops and presents training programs for park management on administrative procedures and marketing techniques. Participates with senior management in planning parks development projects and operational changes and improvements. Participates with senior management in interviewing and selecting facility managers and other staff. Writes, implements, and interprets policy and procedures for fiscal management of park facilities. Investigates complaints about park facilities, prepares reports for senior management on revenue operations and trends, and suggests changes and improvements in overall operations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of fiscal management and cost accounting. Knowledge of marketing techniques and practices. Knowledge of computer programs and practices. Ability to develop procedures and systems for monitoring operations. Ability to analyze situations and data, project outcomes and develop solutions to problems. Ability to present training, information and advice regarding marketing and fiscal management to all levels of staff. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in marketing, accounting, or business management or a related field; plus four years of experience in retail and/or finanacial management in a for-profit organization. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
