The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Tourism Marketing Manager to lead strategic marketing initiatives aimed at promoting Arkansas as a premier travel destination. This role is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies, overseeing project coordinators, and managing relationships with external advertising agencies to ensure the successful implementation of statewide tourism campaigns.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and manage integrated marketing strategies aligned with Arkansas tourism goals.
  • Lead planning sessions to identify key priorities, target markets, and seasonal initiatives.
  • Analyze campaign performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed to improve results.

 

Campaign Management & Implementation:

  • Oversee execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns including digital, print, broadcast, and out-of-home media.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure brand consistency and message alignment across all platforms.

 

Agency and Vendor Management:

  • Serve as primary liaison between the department and advertising/PR agencies.
  • Coordinate the briefing, feedback, and approval process for creative development.
  • Monitor agency performance and ensure campaigns are delivered on time and within budget.

 

Team Oversight:

  • Manage a team of project coordinators, providing clear direction, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Assign projects, manage workloads, and ensure quality control of deliverables.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.

 

Budget & Reporting:

  • Assist in the development and management of the tourism marketing budget.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on marketing performance and key insights for leadership and stakeholders.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Tourism, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing strategy and campaign execution, preferably in tourism, travel, or hospitality sectors.
  • Proven experience managing teams and working with external advertising agencies.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools and digital platforms.

Summary

The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism (ADPT) Research Project Coordinator is responsible for conducting the Tourism Divisions research program and overseeing the Divisions literature inventory and fulfillment process. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Conducts the Divisions research projects, including analyzing relevant research methodologies, developing new or enhanced methods to correct problems or address changing needs, and serving as a consultant to tourism partners and vendors regarding tourism research needs. Monitors the literature fulfillment process by evaluating and making recommendations regarding literature distribution issues. Develops and maintains research databases for accuracy and relevance to the Divisions information needs. Prepares research reports, analyses, and recommendations of use by senior management and the Arkansas State Parks, Recreation and Travel Commission. Makes presentations and attends meetings and conferences. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the travel and tourism industries. Knowledge of market research principles and practices, and relevant statistical methodologies. Ability to analyze economic impact of tourism in Arkansas. Ability to develop, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services. Ability to prepare and present programmatic or technical information to diverse groups. Ability to use various software applications to produce analyses, reports, and written communications.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a bachelors degree in economics, statistics, hospitality, tourism, business administration/management, or a related field; plus three years of experience in hospitality, statistics, or tourism industry, including one year of leadership experience. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
