Job Duties:  This position serves as support on the development, implementation, and management of social media strategies across Arkansas Tourism and Arkansas State Parks platforms.  Position will monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely manner.  Also responsible for tracking and analyzing social media metrics (engagement, reach, etc.) to optimize campaigns.  Position is expected to stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, platform updates, and best practices, reports to the marketing manager and will collaborate with marketing, design, and content teams to ensure brand consistency.  Additionally, they will assist in the planning and execution of social media campaigns and promotions.  Position will coordinate on all influencer partnerships and will be expected to manage the influencer experience and itinerary.

Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: Education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in communications, general business, or related field; plus, three years of experience in a specialized or related field applicable to work performed.

The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism has three major divisions: Arkansas State Parks, Arkansas Heritage and Arkansas Tourism. Arkansas State Parks manages 52 state parks and promotes Arkansas as a tourist destination for people around the country. Arkansas Heritage preserves and promotes Arkansas’s natural and cultural history and heritage through four historic museums and four cultural preservation agencies. Summary

The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism (ADPT) Consultant is responsible for promoting tourism development and enterprise in Arkansas. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Promotes the state's tourism industry by establishing and maintaining relationships with communities, organizations, and government agencies. Serves as consultant to communities and counties on issues pertaining to festival development, group and international travel, and tourism development programs. Assists in seeking, identifying, processing, and fulfilling requests and leads to tourism suppliers. Attends tradeshows, domestic and international marketplaces, and regional/national meetings as official department representative. Attends informational sessions to maintain knowledge of current and future issues that relate to group and international tourism efforts. Assists with the development and updating of meeting planner directories and websites. Assists in planning and hosting familiarization tours and statewide conferences. Assists in the administration of statewide grant programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Dimensions

Occasional in and out-of-state travel is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Arkansas tourism products. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of marketing. Knowledge of the travel and tourism industry. Ability to write promotional materials. Ability to coordinate meetings and lead workshops. Ability to organize and present clear and concise oral and written reports of findings and recommendations. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in tourism, public relations, marketing, general business, or a related field; plus two years of experience in the travel or tourism industry or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
