Job Duties:
This position serves as the Deputy Director for the Division of Arkansas Heritage with responsibilities to include assisting the division director by controlling all daily operational activities and serving as director in their absence. Works with subordinate supervisory personnel to create resolutions for problematic operational activities and provide various types of supervision to personnel, including both the completion of performance appraisals and recruiting and interviewing prospective employees. Position will develop changes for departmental policies and ensuring policy adjustments are properly implemented for full attainment of program goals and objectives; will monitor federal legislative alterations that affect departmental operations; coordinate special events and committee meetings for public relations purposes with community leaders and will develop constructive relationships with interdepartmental personnel. Performs other duties as assigned. Work outside normal business hours, in-state and occasional out of state travel is required.
Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in human resources, accounting, general business, finance, and public administration or related field; plus, seven years of progressively more responsible experience in fiscal or personnel management, including three years in a professional managerial or supervisory capacity.
Preferred qualifications: In addition to above qualifications, candidates should possess related programmatic experience in grants management, collections, museums, conservation/preservation efforts, and natural, historical or cultural resources.
