Summary
The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Arkansas Public School Computer Network (APSCN) Financial Field Analyst position is responsible for field services including technical support for financial software provided to Arkansas public schools and education service cooperatives. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution and the Arkansas Department of Education policies and procedures.
Functions
Provides technical assistance to Arkansas public schools and education service cooperatives regarding the statewide information system, which school districts submit required data for state reports to ADE. Serves as liaison between the schools, education services cooperatives and the various units of the agency regarding requirements; assists direct users in maintaining software modules, set-ups, and changes for APSCN end users. Provides technical assistance and support to public schools and education service cooperatives, in order to solve end-user problems with building reports or retrieve data for reports from the data warehouse. Provides software technical support to Arkansas public schools and education service cooperatives by analyzing and resolving student management software related problems. Schedules, prepares, and conducts workshops and training sessions for end users on the APSCN Student Application software, Statewide Information System, state reporting requirements, and the Cognos report writing system. Assists Arkansas public schools and education service cooperatives in maintaining software modules, set-ups, and changes for APSCN end users. Documents on-site visits with APSCN end users, responds to trouble calls, or other communications either on the Heat Call Management System or through a contact database. Performs other duties as assigned. SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS Requires in-state travel, which may require occasional overnight stays. May also require some overtime and weekend work hours. Requires a current driver's license, auto insurance and vehicle registration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and ability to operate and use computer systems and automated software systems. Ability to plan and organize training sessions for APSCN software end users and develop training materials. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to analyze computer system, software, and/or user error, and to devise corrective measures. Ability to prepare and present oral and written information
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in education, computer science or a related field, or 60 college hours or equivalent technical school education; plus two-years of experience within a school setting using a student records software application. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
