Summary
Functions
Analyzes and evaluates insurance licensing applications, determines capital and surplus requirements, and reinstates Arkansas insurance certification. Communicates orally and in writing the licensing process to enable entities to conduct business in the state of Arkansas. Reviews and analyzes insurance computer information and provides information to callers or licensees concerning licensure status, appointments, and continuing education requirements. Conducts and researches special projects related to foreign insurance companies identified with regulation issues. Communicates with officers of insurance entities concerning company operations and questions raised during the examination process. Ensures that correct fees are received, checks are processed and funds are assigned to correct accounts. Performs market analysis, reviews appointment information, and either processes or rejects the appointment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of state insurance laws, licensing requirements, and related regulations. Knowledge of basic computer and data processing operations. Ability to review and process license applications and appointments via a computer license application. Ability to interpret and apply rules, laws, and policies to specific situations. Ability to identify problem records or data and correct problems. Ability to explain the licensing process to individuals and business entities. Ability to use standard office equipment and computer software programs to produce reports and correspondence.
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus three years of experience in forms review and verification, general office duties or a related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
