Position Summary                                                                                                              

The ACOM AEDC Field Engineer will function as the Client Services Manager, Workforce. The Client Services Manager, Workforce is responsible for promoting and executing the delivery of business transformational services to clients of Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions (AMS), a national Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) center and program of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. This specific position will report to the AEDC Growth Operations Manager. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy. Extension Professionals are responsible for initiating, conducting, reporting and follow-up of technical projects for the focused (but not exclusive) client customer base defined as the small to mid-size manufacturer (<500 employees). AMS Professionals are expected to manage projects independently and report measurable outcomes through internal metric reporting systems in Salesforce.

 

Education and Professional Work Experience                                                                

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; plus, eight years of experience in manufacturing management or related area.

 

Preferred Qualification

The formal education equivalent of undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in workplace and workforce development or similar field; Masters a plus. Eight years of experience in manufacturing management or related area.

Knowledge of a broad range of Workplace and Workforce processes (e.g., Organizational Culture, Compensation, Hiring, Onboarding, Training, and Job Enrichment).

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing and present information to upper management of client companies and professional groups. Presentation skills are key to success in these positions.

Ability to successfully interact with clients at all levels of the organization – from executive management to front line value adders.

Experience and/or certification in team/group dynamics.

Experience in working with businesses – through the assessment, design, implementation, and evaluation stages.

Experience in project debrief and continuous improvement.

Experience in executive coaching and group coaching experience is a plus. ICF or similar coaching certification a plus.

Experience in proposal development, including project design and pricing.

Experience in conflict management.

Knowledge of a broad range of business processes (e.g., strategic planning, strategic marketing, financial analysis, manufacturing process, etc.).

Ability to communicate orally and in writing and present information to top management of client companies and professional groups.

Ability to use analytical, numerical, and reasoning skills to identify and understand manufacturers’ needs.

Ability to manage multiple projects for a variety of manufacturing clients with multiple deadlines.

 

Job Responsibilities and Expected Results                                                                      

  1. Assesses manufacturer’s condition and performance to identify its competitive position relative to peer firms.
  2. Identifies areas of concerns and potential improvements that will advance the firm’s competitive position (Workplace and Workforce areas).
  3. Develops technical, management, or training projects in response to customer needs.
  4. Delivers technical assistance services to customers directly or manages the acquisition and deployment of other resources in response to the customer needs.
  5. Manages projects and completes project reporting according to established procedures and requirements.
  6. Leads, coaches, and mentors the client firm’s development of a vision or strategy.
  7. Assist manufacturing industry clients with the identification, proof-of-concept, and implementation of advanced manufacturing (Industry 4.0) technologies.
  8. Work with clients as a trusted advisor to ensure optimal outcomes for their technology investments.
  9. Train industry clients on a variety of advanced manufacturing technology topics.
  10. Serve as the AMS Manufacturing Extension Partnership’s expert in Workforce services like onboarding, training, employee growth ladders, culture, workplace environment and related areas.
  11. Interface and assist marketing manager in increasing awareness of the market needs and solutions and services in assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Key Business Processes/Duties

  1. Assist in the development and execution of the AMS Business Plan.
  2. Promote the brand identity of AMS with all partners and stakeholders.
  3. Meet with C-Suite level client decision makers to troubleshoot and evaluate client business practices and identify assistance required.
  4. Prepare client proposals, oversee service delivery, and capture impact for services provided.
  5. Continually improve existing service offerings and assist in the development of new service areas.

Salary Range: $69,776.00 - $101,175.00
