This position is located within the Fixed Asset section of the Fiscal Division of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism.
The Accountant I is responsible for the accurate accounting and maintenance of the agency’s fixed assets throughout the asset lifecycle. This position ensures asset records are complete, accurate, properly classified, adequately supported by documentation, and maintained in accordance with applicable accounting requirements, internal fiscal policies, and Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) guidelines. The Accountant I applies established fiscal policies and guidelines to evaluate transactions, determine appropriate accounting treatment, and maintain reliable and auditable asset information. A significant responsibility of the position is assisting with the planning, coordination, and completion of the agency’s annual asset inventory. This includes researching and resolving discrepancies, validating asset information, coordinating with appropriate personnel, and maintaining complete supporting documentation.
The position also plays a key role in the annual reconciliation of Historical Treasures, ensuring these significant assets are properly identified, documented, accounted for, and reconciled to agency records.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, organization, analytical ability, and sound accounting judgment, along with the ability to interpret, and apply fiscal policies and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
