Summary
The Deputy Prosecuting Attorney--Attorney Supervisor is responsible for supervising other deputy prosecuting attorneys in the performance of their job responsibilities including court preparation, charging decisions, legal research, and the drafting of legal documents. May also involve the supervision of administrative support staff.
Functions
- Prosecutes circuit court cases in the respective judicial district.
- Supervises other deputy prosecuting attorneys by assigning or reviewing work, reviewing legal documents, and assisting in charging decisions.
- Reviews and meets with law enforcement often regarding investigations and interviews of witnesses in the judicial district.
- Drafts briefs, motions, and other supporting legal documents on criminal cases within the judicial district.
- Represents the State of Arkansas in legal proceedings within the judicial district.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of state and federal law and statutes.
- Knowledge of legal research and writing protocols.
- Knowledge of state's legislative processes.
- Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply case law, state and federal statutes, legal precedents, and relevant legislative intent to department legal matters.
- Ability to provide legal guidance and technical assistance to department's management and staff.
- Ability to conduct litigation.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of the professional and administrative support staff.
Minimum Qualifications
A law degree from an accredited law school.
Licenses
Must be licensed to practice law and be admitted to the Arkansas State Bar in accordance with Ark. Code Ann. §16-22-201.
