Job Duties:
This position serves as the director of the Delta Cultural Center (DCC) and works under the general direction of the director of the Division of Arkansas Heritage (DAH). The DCC director plans and directs the overall operation of the museum by coordination and evaluation of all programs and services to ensure goals and objectives are met. Position directly supervises a professional staff, formulates, monitors and evaluates long-range goals and objectives for the museum. The DCC director provides guidance and budgetary oversight to staff, reviews, approves/denies and consolidates budget requests, monitors status of funds for operations and directs adjustments where needed. Position will approve/deny purchases of supplies and equipment, reviews all contracts, pricing and capital improvements under the direction of the DAH director. The DCC director serves as the point of contact and spokesperson for the museum in promotion and interpretation of regulations, programs, services and public events. Develops and promotes partnerships with other government agencies, non-profit organizations, public and private businesses. Must have a thorough understanding of the museum’s mission, knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel management, fiscal and grant management and long-range planning. Must also have the ability to organize and prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work as part of a team, establish and maintain relationships with executive leadership and community leaders, and strong written and oral communication skills.
Applicants must meet or exceed these qualifications: Formal educational equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related field plus six years of experience in program development and administration, including three years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
