Special Site Responsibilities:
This position supports operations at a unique and highly sensitive resource site that includes Blanchard Springs Caverns, a protected living cave system of significant geological, biological, cultural, and historical importance. The Maintenance Supervisor will assist with the stewardship and protection of this resource by performing and overseeing maintenance activities in a manner that preserves the integrity of the cave system and surrounding environment. The role requires coordination with park leadership and partner agencies to ensure maintenance practices support long-term conservation goals and comply with established resource protection standards.
In addition to the caverns, the site includes a developed recreation area featuring a spring fed lake, campground, swimming access, trails, and day-use facilities. Responsibilities include providing leadership in facility and grounds maintenance, performing repairs, maintaining infrastructure, and ensuring park amenities are safe, functional, and welcoming for visitors. Work may involve preventative maintenance, minor construction, equipment operation, landscaping, and general upkeep of park facilities while supporting the overall protection of natural, cultural, and recreational resources.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of how maintenance practices contribute to resource preservation and high quality visitor experiences. This position plays an important role in maintaining the balance between public access and protection of one of Arkansas's most unique natural assets.
The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism has three major divisions: Arkansas State Parks, Arkansas Heritage and Arkansas Tourism. Arkansas State Parks manages 52 state parks and promotes Arkansas as a tourist destination for people around the country. Arkansas Heritage preserves and promotes Arkansas’s natural and cultural history and heritage through four historic museums and four cultural preservation agencies. Arkansas Tourism improves the state’s economy by generating travel and enhancing the image of the state.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in maintenance coordination or facilities management, demonstrating expertise in handling complex maintenance projects.
Demonstrated experience in leading maintenance teams, managing large-scale maintenance projects, and integrating advanced maintenance management systems.
Proven track record of successfully managing vendor contracts and driving process improvements in complex operational environments.
Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
