This position serves as the Chief Parks Engineer and oversees all engineering projects within the State Parks system (i.e. roads, water and sewer, building repair/renovation and new construction). Job duties will include planning, preparing, and directing the preparation of construction designs and specifications for park facilities (both in-house and by outside design professionals), conducting feasibility studies, supervising inspectors, performing administrative duties and providing technical assistance to other sections and park staff in the solution of engineering problems. Arkansas Professional Engineer License is required, and the applicant should expect frequent in-state travel.

Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: The formal education equivalent of bachelor’s degree in chemical, electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering, or a related field. Plus, five-year experience in engineering relating to the work performed, including two years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.

Minimum Qualifications
