This emergency services position is responsible for ensuring the safety of the park and its visitors by obtaining voluntary compliance with laws and regulations. Duties include patrolling for possible thefts, illegal hunting and vandalism and other violations, making physical arrests, testifying in court, assisting local agencies, administering first aid, giving interpretive programs, patrolling nearby ADPHT Properties, and other duties as assigned by the Area Sergeant. This position is subject to 24-hour call, must be able to traverse rough terrain, work a varied shift including weekends, evenings, and holidays, work in inclement weather and carry a firearm while on duty. A criminal background check is required. Preference given to applicants who have already completed basic law enforcement training.

All ADPHT Uniformed Law Enforcement positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing. Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card. Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law.
Applicants must meet the following qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in park management, outdoor recreation, criminal justice, criminology, or related field; or two years of college coursework; plus two years of experience in a natural resources field. Must possess valid driver’s license and have completed the Arkansas law enforcement certification training in accordance with ACA12-9-106. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the Qualifications Review Committee.
